Low poly tank by Talros Low poly tank by Talros
A small 3d scene with a low poly tank. I think low poly objekts with nice textures are really cool. It was a simple funny work, done with 3D Max. :)

Detail view [link]

And my special thanks goes to :iconnorsehound:
for his permission to use the original tank artwork by him.

Hi Taylros,

Awesome work bro :)

Let me know the workflow you have done means steps of your work process.

It would be very helpful to everyone who works for games.

Your work with low poly model polygons, triangles and texture are awesome.
Waiting for your respose

Thanks
Riz

Yes, there is something to be said for low-poly models. Looks like it could be in a Playstation 1 game circa 2000.

very nice, looks like a die-cast model. rather Dawn of War, but without all the rivets.

I always love low poly models, brought to such life and detail through just purely amazing textures. I have a few low polys lying around and can never pull this off :o

Massive kudos to you!

Nice job, really. I like it - kinda reminds mi of Warhammer 40K universe. If the Dwarfs were there they could use such tank, no problem ;)

nice work!
there is a little technical miss.. all game engines used square textures only, for example 512x512. that 512x440 is wrong format.
also game engines used normals map instead bump map)

Yo are basically right about the textures. Older game engines use rectangle textures, their sides being exponentiation of two in size (hope it's grammatically correct). It means that they should have been 2/ 4/ 8/ 16/ 32/ 64/ 128/ 256/ 512/ 1024/ 2048/ 4096 pixels in size.
Most of the modern game engines are able to utilise textures pixels size that you can divide by four wich makes 440 px optimization choice (instead of leaving a blank texture area that is not necessary to use). Most of the texture artist prefers to use the 512*512/ 1024*1024/ 2048*2048 textures because they tend to put as much detail as possible there. But if you can re-use specific diffuse fragments while UV-mapping than it is wiser to optimize the texture size.
As to the normal maps - totally agreed. Go CrazyBump for example and generate decent normal maps from the heightmaps you've created (unless you use paralax insted of bump-mapping).

textures should have sizes that are to the power of two for best efficiency, e.g. 256x256, 512x1024... ;)
beside that: well done und nice to watch.
